For me, Disney takes the win. All of their songs were written specifically for the movies they are in. Somewhere Beyond the Sea and Life is a Highway are great songs, but I don't even associate them with the movies they're in because they were already iconic, and I had them lodged deeply in my brain before I ever saw the movies that feature them.
I was born in 2001 so Finding Nemo and Cars are where I know those songs, but I still agree because they aren’t original to the stories they were featured in

Sully was one of my team members, Charlie! I was struggling to get the voice right and he just did it so effortlessly that I gave the solo to him instead. 😂 He totally nailed it, right????

Honestly I think in this situation Disney won simply because most of the Disney songs were sung by the actual characters of the movies. Heck when you got to monsters Inc I didn't even realize that song was part of the movie. The same goes for cars and finding Nemo, none of the actual characters sang those respective songs.
Actually, the Monsters Inc song was sung by the actors who played Mike and Sully, it just wasn't in the main movie, it was in the end credits, but Cars and Finding Nemo's songs were both sung by other artists. Same goes for Brave though, too, because Meredith never did any singing herself.

My first thought is always: "this is just another set of covers" Until I pay attention.... and then I realize that you're consistently making every sound with you or your wife or the collab's voices, and then my mind breaks. I cannot say how creative and impressive that is!!!!
Gotta give it to Disney. Those songs were just more ingrained into my soul. Still, the best rendition of all the songs was "Life Is a Highway," especially since we got both sides to contribute into it to make it even more spectacular. It reminded me of the ending of the Dreamworks Medley, which is one of my favorite vids on this channel.

Brian Hull did absolutely fantastic in the beauty and the beast song... it's weird how much he sounds like Larry the cable guy. Disney won though. I mean, Disney songs generally are better all around, there are some really good Pixar songs, but the sheer amount of Disney ones just put it on top.
The hugely underappreciated work of Julie Fowlis for Brave is getting some love! I love those songs! But I would argue that Pixar won this battle, even with some of their songs being not for their respective movies

Let me just say that the one best song in this entire video... is Life is a Highway. One, when the chorus starts with Mater speech. Two, Mater is basically someone everyone in the entire world would love to hear him singing that song. Three, his best buddy McQueen joins in on the fun till they sang the same line. Four, Mike and Sulley join in as backup vocals. Finally, everyone from Pixar joined in along Disney, who could not disagree that Life is a Highway is the greatest song ever in Disney/Pixar history. So my vote is for Pixar.

I absolutely LOVE the way you always arrange song callbacks into the finale of the medley. It's so brilliantly and seemlessly done and is such a musically exciting way to finish everything out! As far as who wins, I have to side with Disney because their songs are original, whereas Pixar typically uses already existing and often well-known pop songs. That's perfectly fine for them to go that route and it works well, but it's the difference of a character's personally sung thoughts or feelings in their own voice versus a more ambient or narrative approach with a music track-style song. Disney did this some with Phil Collins in Tarzan and Brother Bear. I love Phil and the music in both movies was great, but it all had one overarching voice and I found myself missing those emotional character song moments. Just my two cents on that. All that being said, Life is a Highway was FIRE and overall I loved use of the character voices to bring the characters' personalities into the Pixar songs.

I'm pretty much torn. So many great songs from both sides. It would have to be a tie for me. I'm sorry Peter but I could never ever side with one over the other. In my perspective I see both as equals. This was a truly fun video though and I truly enjoyed it. ❤
The winners in my option are those (I assume Patreon) folks who get to help bringing the background to life. All of the costumes were on point, incredible work to everyone involved! (FYI since Shiny is one of my least favorite Disney songs ever, I am team Pixar for this one.) For the future, I would love to see Musicals face off as you would have lots of choices for styles. That was a very close competition, but overall a great masterpiece of a video from everyone. here's my evaluation. 1st round, Goes to Disney I feel Disney came in with a great presence and energy from the get-go. Pixar had a good song too, but it didn't carry the same impressionable energy like "Circle of Life" did 2nd round goes to Pixar Disney's "Be our Guest" is a great song, but I felt something was lacking Pixar's "If I didn't have you" felt smooth, but also had a rhythmic presence that carried through their performance. 3rd round goes to Disney "Under the sea" very upbeat and happy song that overcame and swung hard. "Beyond the sea" in comparison felt less energetic and rather calming. 4th round goes to Pixar Shiny is a song that felt.., tacky to me. But "life is a highway" brought me on an energetic ride that carried me through to a very satisfying finale. also paired well with lyrics from the previous songs. These two sides were neck and neck and this was a tough choice Disney took the show by storm in the beginning and Pixar ripped it away in the end. The middle 2 rounds were a toss-up, The winner, by my choice, is.., PIXAR Congratulations.

Point: Disney Round 4: Not even the best song from Moana, but still pretty notable vs. Life is a Highway. Good song, but is it Pixar? Point: Pixar, unless it turns out to be disqualified. Victory: Disney, 3-1 or 4-0, pending results of disqualifications. Although really, having a contest about the music from Disney vs Pixar is like having a contest between an eagle and a shark over who has the best wings. They're still great movies, but in this contest, while Disney is bringing its A game (at least the first three rounds, then playing its bench on the fourth round), you're left wondering how Pixar even passed the qualifying rounds.

I'm pretty much torn. So many great songs from both sides. It would have to be a tie for me. I'm sorry Peter but I could never ever side with one over the other. In my perspective I see both as equals. This was a truly fun video though and I truly enjoyed it. ❤
No matter how many times I rewatch this video, “Shrek wasn’t available so you get me” and “I’m a midnight snack” always get me 😂
The winners in my option are those (I assume Patreon) folks who get to help bringing the background to life. All of the costumes were on point, incredible work to everyone involved! (FYI since Shiny is one of my least favorite Disney songs ever, I am team Pixar for this one.) For the future, I would love to see Musicals face off as you would have lots of choices for styles. That was a very close competition, but overall a great masterpiece of a video from everyone.
here's my evaluation.
1st round, Goes to Disney
I feel Disney came in with a great presence and energy from the get-go.
Pixar had a good song too, but it didn't carry the same impressionable energy like "Circle of Life" did
2nd round goes to Pixar
Disney's "Be our Guest" is a great song, but I felt something was lacking
Pixar's "If I didn't have you" felt smooth, but also had a rhythmic presence that carried through their performance.
3rd round goes to Disney
"Under the sea" very upbeat and happy song that overcame and swung hard.
"Beyond the sea" in comparison felt less energetic and rather calming.
4th round goes to Pixar
Shiny is a song that felt.., tacky to me. But "life is a highway" brought me on an energetic ride that carried me through to a very satisfying finale.
also paired well with lyrics from the previous songs.
These two sides were neck and neck and this was a tough choice
Disney took the show by storm in the beginning and Pixar ripped it away in the end.
The middle 2 rounds were a toss-up,

Pixar. Because it has the movies and songs I grew up with. I watched The entire Toy story franchise, the Entire Car Franchise, both Finding Nemo and Dory and Both Monsters Inc and Brave is just art. I love pixar more than disney

Round 1: One of, if not the, greatest animated songs of all time (Circle of Life) vs. Oh, did Brave have music? I don't remember that. Point: Disney
Round 2: Perhaps the biggest showstopper number of the Renaissance (Be Our Guest) vs. Did Randy Newman do another one? Yeah, it does sound kind of familiar. Point: Disney
Round 3: Under the Sea, the song that jumpstarted the whole Renaissance vs. Finding Nemo had music? Wait, isn't that some classic song from the 1940s or 1950s? Are we cheating now? Point: Disney
Round 4: Not even the best song from Moana, but still pretty notable vs. Life is a Highway. Good song, but is it Pixar? Point: Pixar, unless it turns out to be disqualified.
Victory: Disney, 3-1 or 4-0, pending results of disqualifications. Although really, having a contest about the music from Disney vs Pixar is like having a contest between an eagle and a shark over who has the best wings. They're still great movies, but in this contest, while Disney is bringing its A game (at least the first three rounds, then playing its bench on the fourth round), you're left wondering how Pixar even passed the qualifying rounds.
