I was wondering as someone with a background in MBA and business development, how can I use my skills and past experience to make a living while immersing in this culture because honestly, this has been the only happy part of my life for years now, as you can see by the number of series I have watched.

P.S - Startup ideas would also be appreciated hehe, except anime merchandise, please.

Work, by definition, provides products, services, or value. If you eliminate the products in anime and manga, you have very little left.

E-commerce & Dropshipping using a personal website and storing items at home (reselling action figures, manga).
Commission Artist (on DeviantArt or Instagram).
If you're not your own boss, you can always become a clerk in a comic book, manga, or action figure shop.
Cosplay Creator (maybe not the whole thing, but only accessories, including 3D printing).
Creating a mascot or an OC (Original Character) for your online store.
Crowdfunding for anime studios, artist manager/talent scout .
Freelance and Remote Work related to Manga/Anime (Shading Artist or Background Assistant).
Anime and Manga Advertising Graphic Designer.
Twitch Streamer using an anime avatar with VTube Studio (it's not really a job, but it helps build your customer base and promote your online store).
Anime and Video Game Commentator, Reviewer, Blogger, YouTuber, Unboxing Videos (again, it's not really a job, but it helps build your customer base and promote your online store).
Rent premises to be used for anime and manga conventions or gatherings

Depending on how much you earn and what country you live in, it may become necessary to comply with the tax laws of your state.

What’s the point of even bothering with the anime industry when Near Term Human Extinction is inevitable

Utilizing the proverbial otaku culture wouldn't be difficult. I suggest your business that trains, financially supports your country's manga artists, and publishes them (copyright is worth gold) online under your business.

In this instance, human talents are more valuable than merchandise.

@MalchikRepaid Ohhh this is actually promising. Maybe can promote manga culture in my country. WOuldn't be profitable in the beginning, but I would love it if I can just sustain the business and promote the talent.
Thanks

@Cybercat2000 That's exactly why mate. Since we gonna be extinct soon, better die while doing something interesting rather than working in the hope to survive and get the promotion so I can be the chill people who just give directions and do no shit.

The most sustainable kind of business (not always the case) has a long-term planning of maturing human talents. Hence, I suggest doing it as a secondary form of a start-up business due to the result not being so optimal for the first 2-4 years.

Making money using a subculture is indeed a very difficult thing to do.

@MalchikRepaid Yes, that's the plan. Want to invest my off-work time into something long term, and this is the direction I feel driven towards. let's see, how it turns out.
not going to bet all my fortune on this for now, but want to try something.

Always be prepared to have plans B, C, D, E, etc.. Always be extra careful when it comes to investing money and time.

I like your style.

The only kind of profession I could think of off the top of my head, is maybe becoming an anime reviewer on youtube. Maybe give some news from time to time? Unless you live in Japan that's the only thing that I can think of. Not that you would need a business degree for something like that. Sorry not sure if this is a decent answer or not.

@All_Genre_Otaku This is not an issue. For privacy reasons, cyberstalking, social stigma, and "RPG mentality" many Japanese content creators become Vtubers, today the software that allows it is easy to use and edits your face and voice in real time. Hiding your face behind a fictional character can actually be a winning strategy.
Then the new AI technologies offer new uses such as image to video, a bit like doujinshi concept, where real characters are taken and "animated" or edited with AI software even if it enters into gray areas of legality for copyright.
It is in fact expected that in the future the most successful models on onlyfans will be the "AI" ones precisely because a real model cannot compete with something fictitious that has no real obstacles in approaching perfection on what the average user desires.
This sounds like merchandise so it's irrelevant it's just to say that becoming "the character" can be a winning idea in this scenario.

There are a lot of companies in the industry (Japan and domestic), and they all have some business department. Try looking up different ones and see if they have any openings.

There are plenty of services outside of merchandise, be it sites like MAL, games (https://animemusicquiz.com/), news (https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/) translations (https://loadtup.com/), ect.

While not for money, I enjoy is researching works and contributing to the database.
