there is something so calming and meditative in your videos, not just informative on how to cook vegetarian dishes but they also leave me feeling a contentment at the end.
I enjoy seeing how enthusiastic you are about the flavors, textures, and appearance of your food. It isn’t a excited gushing expression, but a low key and serene contented expression on your face and in your tone. Your videos are so relaxing. Thank you for your channel!

I made your crispy katsu tofu fingers again yesterday for the third or fourth time, and they are wonderful. My wife and stepson absolutely love them and they make for a quick and delicious snack. I love your Zwilling pro chef's knife !!! I have several of their " pro " series knives ( without the bolster ). Nothing but Zwilling pro and Miyabi in my kitchen. -- den
Your videos are amazing, and I resonate with so many of the comments here. Wondering what no stick skillets you use. Please share? Thank you for your good work. 😋
Tempura tofu (my own recipe). Cut smoked tofu into little bricks about 3cm x 1cm x 1cm. Cut nori sheet into strips about 2cm wide and 5 cm long. Dampen nori sheet and wrap around tofu. Gently coat in a little rice flour. Make batter using half/half mix of rice flour and chickpea flour, baking powder and a touch of 5 spice or chilli powder. Mix with cold water until smooth, slightly runny batter. Coat each brick in batter, and fry until crispy golden brown. Serve with tamari or yuzu sauce for dipping. Sorry, can't give measurements on flour etc, I do it all by eye and feel.
Lay ho, Wil! Hope your Canada Day was relaxing and happy. I love crispy tofu, but usually pan fry it till it becomes crisp. I try not to eat too many deep fried foods. Looks good, though! 🙏❤

Nutritionist here; if you eat animal-based foods, it’s best to avoid soy - as it’s a phytoestrogen and the body will prefer soy over our own hormones / hormones in the animal-based foods you ingest. For that reason, the body would already be overwhelmed with having to deal with the animal-based foods - so it is best to avoid soy if eating animals. If you’re plant-based / vegan, then eating soy is definitely recommended - in moderation (2-3x week), and always non-GMO, organic. It’s a great plant-based protein source, and if you’re eating a balanced diet and maintain a healthy lifestyle there isn’t a major concern for men or women eating soy… it’s just a matter of ensuring there isn’t competition with animal-based hormones (or our own!) so that the body can digest, process, assimilate, and eliminate the excess without hardship.
Great to have crispy recipes: plant based food can be a little low on texture, but it takes me half the video to recover from the puns: perhaps add in an audience pun alert? 🤣🤣🤣🤣😨

Hi, may I ask why you’re not vegan?
Love your videos btw, it seems strange you are not vegan yourself since you are so good at cooking vegan food.
@@person-vi6dmWhy do you say he's not vegan? I've never seen evidence he's not.

FYI the Hearts of Palms cores along with the whole Palm may be used in Salads and casseroles. From a Brazilian native. 😊

All yummy 😋😋😋😋
Do you ever use an air fryer? I’m sure frying in oil is tastier but would this recipe work in air fryer?
You can‘t compare the tofu fingers fried in oil with those from the air fryer.
We have yet to own one, however I would imagine that to work 👌🏻
Looks so delicious💛
🙌🏻
Love your videos. One question , can you not use the centers of the hearts of palm for something.?
Definitely can - we use them in this recipe 👌🏻

Where can I find the glass jar in which you store the chili oil?
This one here is a repurposed pasta sauce jar ☺️

Any suggestions of what to replace ketchup with? I don’t eat it bc of the sugar
They have sugar free ketchup. 👍
How about seasoned tomato sauce with a little hot sauce?
Time really fries by😂
Can the tofu fingers be baked instead of deep fried?
In the video, he DOES say you can bake them and he gives instructions on how to do that. 03:57
I ate tofu for years but stopped when I was told soy isn't good for men. What do you think?

Are the hearts of palm cores inedible?
It looks like the very last batch is the cores. Thinking you just need to do them in separate batches for frying time.
We use them in the recipe 🙌🏻👨🏻🍳
@@cindyhammond7320 Ah. I did not see that. Tiny phone screen. Thanks!

What's penko?
Panko is Japanese bread crumbs. You can find them in most grocery and Asian stores.
Ah thank you 👍🏻
🌶️🙂
I like to use some tamarind in the kinds of dishes shown here.
Sounds yum 🙌🏻
Better if you give exact weight
This must be very bland, no? There is no spice in there and the tofu is not marinated
