Caught up with whatever you're using to read it. :) |

Hello! Would this count for a child being main character? The story is mainly being told by the adult, but they both have equal importance and there are some scenes without him, as well. Wasn't sure since there's an adult main, as well. Thank you! |

@HeNrYTG50 You'd think, but couple years back, there was this item that needed a main character being at the top of his profession and the manga I had chosen had 3 main characters on the page and only one of them was at the top, but they told me it didn't fit, so since then I make sure that the existence of someone else isn't a problem (especially when the adult is the main narrator), haha. Better safe than sorry :^) @fraideii I finished it today, it was surprisingly good! :D I really liked it. Thank you both! |

Hi ^^ I've been reading a lot the last few months and I wanna sign up, but I have a question before I'll fill in the form... Is it necessary to know the exact date when I started a manga?? Because one of the manga's I'm reading right now is 07-Ghost, I know I started it in March last week or the week before, but as you noticed, I don't know the exact day :') |

This is for us to more easily check that you read them all during the challenge, that you didn't read more than is possible in one day (e.g. 300 chapters in a day), and in this case, that you don't start a manga for the next tier before finishing the previous one. If it's the first manga you read for the challenge, you can just set it as the earliest date you could've started reading it (e.g. March 15), but it's better if you add every item you use for the challenge to your list so you (we) know exactly when you started reading it. :) |

Can I use "The Legendary Moonlight Sculptor" for Intermediate 06: Read a manga published in an online magazine. It was definitely published online but not sure if in a "magazine", and it's manhwa. So not sure. Just read it and trying to fit it in, lol. Also if it's ok how would I like to it as it isn't on MAL? |

I would've putted in the list right as I started reading it, if I knew I was going to participate beforehand xd. The only way of 'proofing' what I started reading between Jan 1st and now is on my listography.. which I started it in dec (but I make a new list each month). Cuz I started reading a lot of webtoon and yaoi that are either not here in de database or on pending :') |

Sure counts. You can link it on bakaupdates. "May I use manhua/manhwa/one-shots/doujinshi instead of serialized manga for regular items too?" Yes, you can. If it's items that aren't in MAL, you can just add the dates in which you started (and finished) reading them to the challenge post. But even then, it'd be better if they were accurate. As long as you complete the tiers properly, which is in ascending order by date, then it's fine. :) We give a little bit of leeway for this type of situations. |

Wanted to know if the over 20 volumes rule applied to both publishing and completed manga or just completed? and also for the "(E.03) Read a manga that is 50+ volumes in length" in the expert list |
Apr 10, 2019 3:17 AM
#322
@zelda2point0 they do but it has to be translated over the limit explained. For example, you can use Kingdom for both of those because it has 600 chapters and 50+ volumes translated, but you can't use Major because only 8 of its 78 volumes are translated to English. (obviously this information changes depending on the language you are reading it in, but the point is that you must meet the requirement whether it's ongoing, translating, or entirely completed) |

Hey guys ! I was wondering if it's okay to use Awfully Damn Kiss and Hug for (Ap.14) Read a manga that is 6 to 10 volumes in length. since baka-updates states this Manhwa as completed with 10 volumes. Because MAL is saying that it's still publishing ..Oh and also just in case, can I use Mangas for (Ap.01) Read a web/4-koma manga. which don't have the Webtoon/Web Comics tag on baka-updates, but provides a link to the Original Webcomic? For example would the Manhwa above or this one be acceptable for this requirement?I should have taken a screenshot for Ap.28, then I wouldn't have to move some entries by now, but I completely missed my chance, whoops. |

Because MAL is saying that it's still publishing ..You can use both. We use mangaupdates as a preference. If they say it is completed, we will go with that. You can link with a little note to this post, just in case if the status changes in the future. As for now, we have seen that it was listed as completed with 10 volumes and given the okay. Oh and also just in case, can I use Mangas for (Ap.01) Read a web/4-koma manga. which don't have the Webtoon/Web Comics tag on baka-updates, but provides a link to the Original Webcomic? It is being serialized in a web-thingy (pixiv) and other titles from said magazines do feature the webcomic-tag. So yeah, this is an exception, that counts. :) I should have taken a screenshot for Ap.28, then I wouldn't have to move some entries by now, but I completely missed my chance, whoops. Damn, yeah. Sometimes it might be subject of change :D |

can someone give me recs for a 1) manga with a nonhuman main character and a 2) manga about food, music or art? I'd appreciate it. (also I know this might seem like pointless clarification, but I just want to make sure: if we use a manga that is from both a 'shoujo and josei' magazine for the 'read a manga from a shoujo magazine' category, we'll be ok as long as the manga is labelled shoujo right?) |

No, the manga does not necessary have to wear a Shoujo-genretag. As long as the magazine itself is aimed at Shoujo-demographics, it counts (it can additionally aiming for Josei). You may google for it to see it. Which one do you plan on using? |

You've both given me a variety of non humans to work with and I like stories focusing on those perspectives, so even if I only use one for this item in the challenge I can keep the rest and use them for other things. Ok here's a fun question: for (N.05) Read a manga serialized in a shoujo magazine. Does it count if the series only partly serializes in a shoujo mag? Specifically I was looking at Orange, which ran in a shoujo magazine for the first 1/3 of its run, before going on hiatus, acquiring a new publisher, and finishing the remaining 2/3 in a Seinen mag. Can this still count or should I just read this for a different entry? |

I'd like to use Kakegurui Twin for the apprentice challenge #3 (Read a prequel/sequel to a manga that you've already read) since this manga is a prequel to Kakegurui. Twin is a prequel to Kakegurui's main series (set one year before) but MAL has it listed as a spin-off rather than a prequel. Is it ok to use it as a prequel? Or do I need to use it for apprentice challenge #4 (Read a spin-off or side story of a manga that you've already read)? Thanks! |
