Man vs. Wild... WTF. Does anybody watch this show?

You may not but many do and Im one of them..U say eating larva...U won't get burgers if caught in plane crash and stranded on a remote island. There will be only EAT SURVIVE ESCAPE whatever the means and source.

Ace Bandage

The one and only.
Don't believe everything you see on that show:
  • Grylls was shown trying to lasso "wild" mustang in the Sierra Nevada that were in fact tame and had been hired from a trekking station nearby.
  • A scene where Grylls was purported to have escaped from an active volcano by leaping across lava, avoiding poisonous sulphur dioxide gas, was actually enhanced with special effects, using hot coal and smoke machines.
  • Similarly, another episode gave viewers the impression that Grylls "was a 'real life Robinson Crusoe' stuck on a desert island", while in reality he was on an outlying part of the Hawaiian archipelago and retired to a motel at night.

I never believe these shows. Fun to watch but don't try most of it at if you are out and about in the world. Do some research first.

These shows are for entertainment purposes first and everything else follows behind in small doses.

Take reality TV with a grain of salt.

say what you want about Bear and the show, but if you're ever stuck in a location he's covered you'll wish you'd have watched it.

Good to hear that.Hpy dat Im not alone :hatsoff: :glugglug:

He must be crazy when he jumps from a waterfall or even a cliff. I know from German television that "reality" shows always consists some fakes and involved people in there who holds on to scripted actions. And this is the case right here.
Nonetheless I like watching it.

While the show is total bullshit, this guys does actually have some mad survival skills. And even though he's got a chance to research everything before the show, and probably has a team to help him do so, there is good and true information given (just for example, there is no fresh water fish that is poison to eat).

I don't watch it much, but I enjoy it if I do catch a bit of it. I know it is staged. I'm watching television.

Yeah, I've heard stuff like that too. He never camps in the woods or where ever, he always goes back to a hotel. Guy's a douche.

This show is horrible. The show Survivorman is a better bet and slightly more practical. Most of the things they show in Man Vs Wild are actually extremely dangerous and not a good idea for survival, so I really wouldn't recommend taking the show as even a remotely good source of wilderness survival advice. Watch it for the entertainment value and nothing more. If you want to walk away with knowledge, I recommend either flipping the channel to Survivorman, or just some books on the real deal. Those will always beat any TV show.

Can someone tell me how many people are around when an episode is made? There must be at least one cameraman, the director and someone who drives the car. If Bear truly sleeps whereever outside in the nature, then where does the team spend the night? Do they even have weapons with them in case they'd be attacked by animals?

There are 3 people around when an episode is made -

1 Cameraman
1 Director
1 Someone who drives the car

They leave Bear in the wild for the night & go to an hotel, it would be pointless for them to stay in the wild. . .

Thanks for the answer.

Does Bear have the right to easily walk around and kill animals, or even skin dead animals when he's hungry?

He may have a lot of his situations faked or staged, but he does still know his stuff... for the most part

Survivor Man Les Stroud is a real survivalist in my opinion. The guy films his own shots and actually has more realistic tips on how to survive. Such as how to extract water out of your urine instead of just drinking it straight like Bear does

I agree with mrterbus because his intense masculinity sways me to all that he says...all joking aside this show is rtarded and is a waste of viewing time, this show should be titled "Poor Man's Jaime Oliver that eats shrubs and grubs and stays at a hotel when the camera is off" so sue me if I didn't capitalize everything in the title.

The Second-Hottest Man in my Mother's Basement
Thanks to this show, I know how to climb down a cliff using nothing but some sticks and some rope with Will Ferrell screaming in my ear.
